Presscon PV-Series vacuum protectors ensure that a horizontal buffer tank is protected from vacuum. On a horizontal buffer tank, a piece of vertical pipe, with a diameter of 2", is welded with a welding flange at each of the two ends at the highest point. A Presscon vacuum protector is mounted on each of the two flanges. In this way the buffer tank is protected against vacuum.
When water flows out of the buffer tank for any reason, the water level first begins to drop into the vacuum protector. As the water continues to fall into the vacuum protector housing, a vacuum is created. At the point when there is a vacuum between -2 and -4 mbar (different pressures possible on request), the pallet is lifted out of the chair. There is then an open connection with the outside air. Due to the pressure difference between outside and inside, outside air flows into the buffer tank. This equalizes the pressure difference. Applying a Presscon PV-Series vacuum protector prevents an impermissible vacuum from forming in a horizontal tank and causing the tank to permanently change shape.
